Advice Dump #1

The scene needs: Desire, Conflict, Action, and a Change.

Write about what scares you.

If introducing a character, start the new paragraph with their names first. This helps speed-readers.

Three lines of action max, per paragraph.

Don't have more than three paragraphs of near-identical length.

Do an age range, not an exact number.

Consider character names on an actor's IMDb, especially for one-scene bit parts. No actor wants the character "Maid" or "Slutty Dancer" on their credits.

If stuck in a "dramedy" middle ground, aim for the first 85% to be comedy, then 10% drama, and then make the last 5% comedy again.

Twists only work if the audience is trying to solve the wrong mystery.
